FOMAO

who are we

FOMAO was set up in May 2005 to provide financial assistance in support of the work of Mponegele Ke Itirele, a registered nonprofit organisation working with AIDS orphans in the Mankweng area of Limpopo Province, South Africa.

what are our aims

to improve the children’s access to basic needs such as practical support in the home, emotional support, education and training, food and clothing to improve access to entitled government grants, relief from paying school fees
to help with their studies, craft training and career guidance to advance the public education and awareness of the needs of these children and their households; and
to promote AIDS Awareness by running community workshops.

About Us

Most AIDS orphans and their guardians live in rural areas where there is often no running water and electricity.

Many live in tin shacks. These orphans are often cared for by elderly grandmothers who struggle to cope.

Neither the grannies or the orphans have the skills to apply for government grants, or obtain access to the feeding centres available.

The local chief has donated land and the two dilapidated buildings on the land have been repaired and refurbished by FOMAO with access to clean water and adequate sanitation.

They now include a kitchen, a dining area, an office and classrooms.

Here 135 orphans come to be fed, helped with their homework, receive counselling and are being trained to grow vegetables
